Overview
Built on the vision of Honorable prime minister of India for making India self-sustainable technology hub and fulfill the ‘Make in India concept’ combined with the gathering of Intellectual property rights (IPR),DRIEMS, as a technological autonomous institute, aims to provide suitable ambience, infrastructure and research oriented conducive policies in order to facilitate the faculty, scholars and students to search for low cost solutions for complicated engineering problems and human sufferings in areas relating to scientific, social and technological research putting more emphasis on collaborative and interdisciplinary research. The last twenty years have seen this institute in Odisha, India taking meticulous and meaningful steps to build reservoirs of intellectual wealth and academic excellence. DRIEMS is determined to meet the same demanding standards to create great professionals and citizens by inspiring them in many ways and making research an area of paramount importance to the institute.

Objectives
- To identify research priorities and initiate programmes.
- To seek research grants and promote focused research of national and international importance.
- To accelerate new collaborations and strengthen existing ones.
- To publish research findings in national and international reputed publications.
- To provide logistics support for researchers to implement ideas into tangible outputs.
- To convert UG projects in to intellectual properties and sharing with industries for product development.
- To persuade the faculty and staff member to follow the code of ethics and transparency related to plagiarism with published literatures.
- Emphasis on incubation centre/ cell functioning.
- To facilitate providing seed money to newly joined faculty members.
- To link with MSME, DST, DBT, CSIR etc for receiving sponsored projects.
- To conduct regular seminar/conference/workshop related to Research & Development.
- To visit adopted villages under PMKVY and find out the drawbacks or deficiency of the villagers and to focus on those deficiencies to find out low cost engineering solutions research / startup project by the students.
